MSA SPORTS GAMES FUN & FITTNESS ALL YEAR

 

MSA Head Start basketball leagues are separated by gender and grade. This non-competitive league is for beginners with a focus on teaching basketball basic skills, fundamentals while having Fun. Volunteer Coaches will run the practices and games. Teams are assigned to the available gyms for practice and games.

       

How it works: 

  • Four practices at the locations and time assigned

  •  Four games played at the locations and at varying times, but on the assigned day.

  •  Players who register as individuals will be assigned to teams as space allows.

  • Placement of individuals on a team is contingent on sufficient registrations to form a team and recruitment of a volunteer coach

  •  Each team must have a volunteer Coach, to coach the team in the practices & games.

  • Individual registration deadline: Tuesday, December 16, 2008.

Practices: The volunteer coach will conduct four team practices

Games: Teams play non-competitive games. Team scores are not recorded.

Volunteer Coach: He or she will be responsible for coaching the team during practices & games, keeping a roster of the team and notifying the team members of the practice and game schedules. The Coach will receive a complete roster of his or her team from MSA, a schedule for gym locations and times for practice and games.

Registration: To register a preformed team, the volunteer coach must call 301-983-2227, or by entering his/her team data in the form.  

Coach will submit the roster with registration forms and payment for a minimum of eight players and a maximum of ten players.

Team registration deadline: Tuesday, December 16, 2008.

After teams have been formed, MSA will contact the volunteer Coach and players on/or before the first practice of the season to confirm location and time.

Practices begin the weekend of January 10 and January 11, 2009.

Locations & Time:

Practice & Game locations: Wyngate ES (North Bethesda), Somerset ES (Bethesda), Twin-brook ES (Rockville)

Practices and games times will be scheduled hourly between: Saturday’s 11am to 1pm & Sunday’s 9am to 4pm

FEE: $65.00 Per Player

Fee includes 4 one-hour practices, 4 one-hour games practices, team shirt, and trophy.
